Hart, 36, was carried off the field in the first quarter after collapsing after a Hoosiers score. The second-year run game coordinator and running backs coach was allegedly conscious and attentive as he was being removed, even giving the fans a thumbs up before being taken to the hospital for further treatment.
Harbaugh said in a statement after the game that Hart suffered a “medical issue during the game” but is in “stable condition.” He also wished Hart well, stating that the coach will be kept in mind.

As trainers worked on Hart, other Michigan coaches, including head coach Jim Harbaugh, hovered nearby.
Hart was carried off the field on a stretcher, but he was moving his head and extremities when Hoosiers coaches rushed out to check on the former Indiana running backs coach.
Hart was taken from Memorial Stadium and taken to a hospital for further treatment.
“During the game, Mike [Hart] had a medical issue, and he is in stable condition,” Harbaugh stated in a statement. “He’ll spend the night in Bloomington for additional observation. Mike is a strong man who receives many prayers…it truly puts things into perspective.
According to Fox, Hart reached out to the squad during halftime to let them know he was doing well and to provide an update on his situation.
From 2017 until 2020, Hart worked for Indiana head coach Tom Allen. He later transferred to Michigan, where he played football. He carried for more than 5,000 yards as a player and is currently the Wolverines’ career running leader.
Michigan running backs Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards were obviously upset on the bench and were consoled by other coaches as Hart was carried away.

Hart, Michigan’s all-time leading rusher, returned to Ann Arbor following four years as a running back at Indiana University (2017-20). After serving as the Hoosiers’ assistant coach in 2018 and 2019, he was promoted to associate head coach in 2020.
