Carewell SEIU 503 Healthcare Cost Assistance benefits enable Oregon homecare and personal support workers who are unable to get coverage via other methods to afford individual healthcare insurance. Other options include the Oregon Health Plan, different employment, or spousal coverage.
This benefit is accessible to qualifying homecare and personal support employees who have Medicare or participate in a health insurance Marketplace plan.
In 2023, the Healthcare Cost Assistance benefit provides up to $6,900 in out-of-pocket medical expenditures for Medicare or your approved Marketplace plan claims. It also pays 100% of your net monthly premiums for an individual Marketplace plan, as well as a part of your Medicare payments.

Home Health Care Startup Carewell Raises $5M from e.ventures, NextView Ventures, and Primetime Partners
Carewell, a leading advocate for caregivers and online provider of home health products, has raised more than $5 million in seed funding from global venture firm e.ventures,
seed stage specialist NextView Ventures, and early-stage investor Primetime Partners, which was founded by Alan Patricof and Abby Levy to invest in companies that can improve the quality of life for older adults.
e.ventures NextView Partner David Beisel will serve as a board observer, while Founding Partner Mathias Schilling will join Carewell’s Board of Directors.
A collection of accomplished entrepreneurs and consultants also participated in the round, including Jason Klinghoffer, former VP of Growth Marketing at Chewy.com, and Nadia Boujarwah and Lydia Gilbert, owners of Dia&Co.
Carewell co-founders Bianca Padilla and Jonathan Magolnick founded the firm in 2015, inspired by Padilla’s experience as one of the 53 million unpaid family carers in the United States, accounting for more than 20% of the population.
After witnessing the absence of information on care methods and goods firsthand, they founded Carewell to provide a much-needed resource and support network for independent carers.
Padilla and Magolnick have established a dedicated client base and caregiver community by assisting them in navigating what is sometimes an onerous, time-consuming, socially isolated, and emotionally taxing situation.
Carewell has a Customer Satisfaction Score (CSAT) of 94, raising the bar for individualized service in the business. They want to utilize the funding to increase their expert-vetted product options, streamline ordering, and provide teaching materials.
“Family members are more challenged than ever before in providing in-home care for their chronically ill, handicapped, or elderly loved ones,” stated Padilla, Carewell’s CEO. “Our objective is to enhance the lives of these selfless people and assist them in providing better care.”
We are more than just an e-commerce site. We are here to help, educate, and advocate for the underserved caregiver community.”
While the number of family caregivers has gradually increased in recent years, owing to an aging baby boomer population, COVID-19 has significantly hastened the move to in-home care. In fact,
Carewell’s sales doubled during the first month of the pandemic, and approximately 40,000 unique consumers have made purchases since February 2020.
